1.5 Million UK National Lottery Players Have 1.9 Million Unclaimed Prizes Averaging £3.90

GB News reported that 1,542,081 National Lottery players across the UK won prizes over the past year but left the money untouched in their online accounts. The total exceeds 1.9 million individual unclaimed wins, with more than 195,000 exceeding £10. The average untouched prize stands at £3.90, and no single prize in these accounts exceeds the £500 maximum allowed for direct online deposits.

Allwyn, the lottery operator, provided regional breakdowns of the unclaimed prizes. Scotland accounts for 130,375, Wales for 74,444 and Northern Ireland for 27,767. In England, London leads with 200,553, followed by the North West with 180,672 and the West Midlands with 121,141.

Andy Carter from the National Lottery said players should log in to claim funds that could cover small treats or larger purchases. He noted that unclaimed amounts could be used to buy additional tickets, especially as Lotto has doubled the number of millionaires in recent draws. Since 1994 the National Lottery has raised more than £53 billion for good causes, supporting over 680,000 projects.

Players currently contribute around £33 million weekly to such causes. The appeal follows recent high-profile wins. A Brighton bricklayer matched five main numbers plus the bonus ball in the June 6 Lotto draw to claim a £1 million jackpot.

Separately, Allwyn confirmed an investigation into a disputed £12 million EuroMillions claim from Abercynon, Wales, after a shopkeeper discarded the ticket, and suspended draws at that location. Allwyn remains the only major operator that permits claims on lost or destroyed tickets.
