13-Year-Old Wins Secondary Girls Javelin at 2026 Palarong Pambansa
Christine Rose Toquero of Escalante City, Negros Island Region, won the secondary girls javelin throw at the 2026 Palarong Pambansa. She recorded a throw of 45.22 meters at the Datu Lipus Makapandong Gov. Democrito O. Plaza Sports Complex in Prosperidad on May 25.

Christine Rose Toquero, 13, of Escalante City won the secondary girls javelin throw at the 2026 Palarong Pambansa on Monday, May 25. 22 meters at the Datu Lipus Makapandong Gov. Democrito O. Plaza Sports Complex in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur. She competed against older athletes using a 500-gram javelin. 77-meter throw at the 2025 edition in Ilocos Norte.
She had previously competed in middle-distance running events before switching to javelin in Grade 5. “I’m really happy to get the gold medal,” Toquero said after the event. She added that she had not expected the result after throwing only 42 meters at the regional level.
Toquero said she aims to compete at the Olympics and the Asian Games.
