Texas Teacher Pleads Guilty to Improper Relationships with Two Teenage Boys

A 25-year-old teacher at Valley Mills High School in Texas has pleaded guilty to two counts of improper relationship between educator and student. The charges involve sexual intercourse with two teenage boys under the age of 17. Neither boy attended Valley Mills High School.

The McLennan County Sheriff’s Office received a tip in September 2025 about Shelby Dawn Lashombe kissing a 16-year-old boy. The boy confirmed to investigators that he had sexual intercourse with Lashombe on multiple occasions and that she knew his age. Lashombe admitted to detectives that the relationship had lasted six months.

According to the arrest affidavit, Lashombe had been friends with the boy's family for years and was aware that he was a student and underage. She also admitted to having sexual intercourse with a second boy under 17 who attended a different school. The incidents occurred while Lashombe was employed as a teacher.

Plea Deal and Sentencing On Friday, Lashombe entered guilty pleas to the two second-degree felony counts, each punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

In exchange, the McLennan County District Attorney’s Office dropped two counts of sexual assault against a child, also second-degree felonies. Prosecutors recommended deferred probation and a $1,000 fine. 19th State District Judge Thomas West ordered a presentence investigation by probation officers.

The judge will review the investigation before deciding whether to accept the plea bargain. The case highlights procedures for handling reports of educator misconduct in Texas schools. The guilty pleas followed Lashombe's arrest last September, based on the initial tip and subsequent interviews.

Both boys were not students at her school, but the charges specify improper relationships due to her role as an educator. The outcome depends on the judge's review of the presentence report.
