A 17-year-old Bulgarian national has been charged with attempted murder after a man in his 60s was stabbed on a footpath near Stafford Castle Golf Course on Newport Road in Stafford. The incident occurred just before 7pm on Thursday, May 14. Staffordshire Police said the victim remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital.
The teenager, who cannot be named because of his age, was arrested on Tuesday evening, May 19. He has also been charged with theft from a shop and is due to appear at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Saturday, May 23. A police spokesman stated the suspect is White and of Bulgarian nationality.
A 30-year-old man arrested during the investigation has been released with no further action. Staffordshire Police asked anyone with relevant CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage to contact investigators. The force urged the public to avoid speculation while legal proceedings continue.
