2026 World Cup Ticket Prices for Toronto Matches Drop Sharply as Tournament Nears
Resale prices for Canada’s opening match have fallen sharply in recent days, yet many local fans remain unable to purchase seats.
winnipegfreepress.comHundreds of tickets for 2026 World Cup matches in Toronto remain unsold as of June 2026. Resale prices have declined in the final days before the tournament’s first Toronto game. FIFA’s lowest listed resale price for the Canada versus Bosnia-Herzegovina match on June 12 fell to $534 on Monday, down from just over $1,300 earlier this month.
Harp Patel, a Greater Toronto Area resident and mother in a family of five, told CBC Radio’s Metro Morning on Monday that her family has been unable to obtain any tickets despite entering multiple lotteries. Patel said the family had purchased 24 tickets for four matches at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar for around $5,500 before cancelling those plans after Toronto was named a host city.
“We can barely afford two or three tickets for the price that we were to pay for 24 tickets back then,” Patel said.
Simon Kuper, a soccer writer and columnist who has covered eight World Cups, also spoke to Metro Morning on Monday. He said prices for Canada’s matches could drop “quite dramatically” over the coming days in order to fill stadium seats.
U.S. In particular people pay much higher prices for sports tickets generally than in other countries. And they wanted to tap that into the World Cup,” Kuper said. “In the end, they are going to try and get people into the stadium.
Dozens of soccer fans have posted similar complaints on Reddit forums and Instagram about being unable to secure tickets. FIFA is the official seller and reseller of World Cup tickets. Patel said her family is now exploring other ways to experience the tournament outside BMO Field.
She added that she is “counting down the sleeps” until the opening match while still hoping to find tickets for her children.
