He added that the statue “is not about worship. It is about honor. ” Burns continued his defense on Instagram on Saturday. “You may dislike President Trump. That is your choice. But you are in gross error if you think for one second that I worship this magnificent statue or anything made by human hands,” he said.
Washington Examiner reported that Burns hosted the dedication ceremony for the Trump statue. Trump endorsed Burns in 2024 during his run for Congress in South Carolina’s 3rd Congressional District. Burns lost to Sheri Biggs in the GOP primary runoff for South Carolina’s 3rd Congressional District.
