Sergio Garcia Receives Code-of-Conduct Warning After Club Damage at Masters Final Round

Incident on Second Tee Sergio Garcia hit his ball into a bunker on the second tee during the final round of The Masters at Augusta on Sunday.

He hammered his driver into the ground twice after the shot. Garcia then struck a table containing a green cooler with his driver, causing the club head to hang loosely from the shaft before tearing it completely off. The driver became unusable for the remainder of his round.

Earlier, Garcia dropped a shot on the opening hole. These events occurred during the final round on Sunday.

Official Warning and Response Geoff Yang, the competition committee chairman, approached Sergio Garcia at the fourth tee during the final round.

Yang delivered an official code-of-conduct warning to Garcia. Under tournament rules, a second code-of-conduct warning incurs a two-stroke penalty, while a third breach results in disqualification. In his post-round media session after the final round, Garcia declined to elaborate on his exchange with Yang.
