nypost.comSan Francisco 49ers running back Isaac Guerendo tore a pectoral muscle while lifting weights about a month ago. Head coach Kyle Shanahan disclosed the injury after Thursday's organized team activities and said Guerendo is not expected to return until near the end of training camp.
Shanahan stated the injury will not end Guerendo's season. The coach told reporters that Guerendo could be ready by the conclusion of training camp.
Guerendo was selected in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft after playing at Louisville. In his rookie season he appeared in 16 games and recorded 84 carries for 420 yards and four touchdowns while the team dealt with multiple injuries at the position. Guerendo did not receive any carries in 2025 and spent that season on special teams.
Guerendo is competing with Kaelon Black for the third running back spot on the depth chart. The 49ers' running back group has faced repeated injuries in recent seasons, including the absence of Christian McCaffrey for the entire 2024 campaign due to a torn Achilles tendon.
