Brandon Aiyuk posted a YouTube video June 27 stating he will never return to the 49ers except for one game. He expressed interest in joining the Washington Commanders.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk said in a YouTube video posted June 27 that his relationship with the team will never be repaired. In the 3½-minute video, Aiyuk stated he will never step inside the 49ers building except on Oct. 19, when the team hosts the Washington Commanders on Monday Night Football.
He held up a football bearing the Commanders logo and expressed a desire to join that team to play alongside quarterback Jayden Daniels, his former Arizona State teammate. Aiyuk blamed his former agent Ryan Williams for contributing to the issues, noting that Williams has a business relationship with 49ers general manager John Lynch.
He said he fired Williams in November 2025, though Williams remains listed as his agent on the NFLPA directory.
Aiyuk also claimed that Lynch recently visited his home, in part to apologize for the actions of coach Kyle Shanahan, and described the situation as unsafe for him and his wife. The 49ers signed Aiyuk to a four-year, $120 million contract extension in August 2024.
The team voided the remaining guaranteed money in July 2025 after he did not participate in rehabilitation for a torn ACL, MCL and meniscus in his right knee suffered during the 2024 season.
The 49ers placed him on the reserve/left team list in December after he stopped attending the team facility. Veterans are scheduled to report to training camp on July 25.
