62 golfers qualify for 2026 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills
Final qualifying concluded Monday with 62 players earning spots in the 126th U.S. Open. The field now stands at 147 players, with additional entries possible after the RBC Canadian Open.
CBS SportsSixty-two players advanced through final qualifying Monday to join the 2026 U.S. Open field at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club. More than 10,000 golfers originally entered the process. The new qualifiers include both established professionals and amateurs. Among them are J.B. Holmes, Billy Horschel, Keith Mitchell and Graeme McDowell, who secured additional major starts.
Amateur qualifiers High-school players also earned entry.
Miles Russell, the world's top-ranked junior, shot 6-under par across 36 holes at BallenIsles Country Club and won a playoff to advance. Fellow high-school competitors Giuseppe Puebla and Jackson Ormond also qualified. Russell was assisted on the bag by Charlie Woods during the round.
Field status Eighty-five players had already secured spots through prior exemptions. The current total stands at 147, with the possibility of further additions based on the world rankings after June 15.
