Euphoria Actress Chloe Cherry Describes Filming of Drug Mule Scenes in Season 3 Premiere

The HBO series Euphoria returned with Season 3 Episode 1, which aired on HBO Max. The episode focuses on the character Rue, played by Zendaya, who faces consequences from events in Season 2. After escaping a drug dealer at the end of Season 2, Rue is located at her job and confronted about an outstanding debt.

The debt, initially stated as $43 million including interest, is reduced to $100,000. Rue agrees to work off the debt by acting as a drug mule. The episode depicts the process in detail, starting with a trip to Mexico.

Cherry stated that series creator, writer, and director Sam Levinson insisted on portraying the act as highly unappealing.
