New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge will undergo new imaging of his right rib stress fracture during the 2026 All-Star break. General manager Brian Cashman said the team will not return him until he is asymptomatic. The Yankees improved to 15-19 without him after a July 9 win.
Aaron Judge will have his injured right rib reimaged during the 2026 All-Star break, ESPN reported. The New York Yankees outfielder has not played since May 31 and was placed on the injured list June 5 with a stress fracture after undergoing a CT scan, an MRI and a consultation with a specialist.
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman told reporters on July 9 that the team does not want to risk returning Judge while still injured.
"He should be asymptomatic before we turn him loose," Cashman said. "If he's asymptomatic and not feeling anything and [medical images] are showing healing, then it's probably appropriate to get him going again. " The injury has restricted Judge's ability to work out his upper body, Cashman said.
The new images will clarify his progress in rehabilitation. The Yankees improved to a 15-19 record without Judge after a 12-4 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on July 9. Cashman also reported that Giancarlo Stanton suffered a new strain to his right calf, further delaying his return.
Stanton has not played since April 24. Infielder George Lombard Jr. is hitting and throwing again after spraining two fingers on his left hand last month and is expected to resume playing in the minors around the All-Star break.
Right-hander Carlos Lagrange will not throw for six weeks after suffering a right capsule strain.
