Aaron Judge to Undergo Rib Imaging During All-Star Break

Aaron Judge will undergo imaging tests on his fractured right rib during the All-Star break, ESPN reported. The New York Yankees hope the results confirm healing in the three-time AL MVP. Judge has not played since May 31.

He was placed on the injured list June 5 with a stress fracture of his right rib after undergoing a CT scan, an MRI and a consultation with a specialist. Yankees general manager Brian Cashman told reporters Thursday that the team does not want to risk returning Judge while the injury remains active. "He should be asymptomatic before we turn him loose," Cashman said.

"If he's asymptomatic and not feeling anything and [medical images] are showing healing, then it's probably appropriate to get him going again. " The Yankees entered their series finale against the Tampa Bay Rays with a 14-19 record in games without Judge. Cashman noted that the injury has prevented Judge from performing upper-body workouts because he cannot place stress on his rib cage.

The new images are expected to clarify his progress in rehabilitation.
