Actor in It Ends With Us Birthing Scene Disputes Blake Lively’s Account of Discomfort

Adam Mondschein told Page Six that Blake Lively was the most powerful person in the room while filming the birthing scene in It Ends With Us. The actor, who played OBGYN Dr. Dunbar in the delivery room scene, stated that Lively inserted herself in every creative decision during filming.

Nothing happened on set that Blake Lively was not in charge of, he said. Mondschein stated that Blake Lively's voice is heard and that she is very confident and firm. The 38-year-old actress alleged in her initial complaint and amended version filed in February 2025 that she was disturbed by Justin Baldoni's actions on the set of It Ends With Us.

Baldoni is 42 years old. Lively alleged that Justin Baldoni chose to add new scenes with nudity including a violative birthing scene. She alleged that Baldoni cast his friend as her OBGYN in the birthing scene.

Lively alleged that ordinarily a small role such as the OBGYN would be filled by a local actor. The selection of Justin Baldoni's friend for the intimate OBGYN role, with the actor's face and hands in close proximity to her nearly nude genitalia, was invasive and humiliating, Lively alleged in the complaint.

Adam Mondschein has at least 10 acting credits prior to his appearance in It Ends With Us.

He has a master's in fine arts from UCLA and toured with the Tony Award-winning Acting Company. Mondschein stated that he takes offense at Blake Lively's implications in her lawsuit that he was not qualified for the OBGYN role. He stated that Blake Lively was fully covered, wearing a prosthetic, a hospital gown, and black shorts while filming the birthing scene.

There was nothing to see during filming of the birthing scene, he said. Mondschein stated that he spent much of the birthing scene holding a real baby off screen covered in raspberry jelly and cream cheese before lifting the infant into frame. In the final scene he is seen smiling at a live baby whose parents were in the room with the crew.

Mondschein previously defended Justin Baldoni in an interview with Page Six. Blake Lively accused Justin Baldoni of sexual harassment and fostering a toxic work environment in a lawsuit filed in December 2024. It Ends With Us is adapted from the novel by Colleen Hoover.

Justin Baldoni had a great relationship with author Colleen Hoover, Mondschein stated. Lively and Baldoni settled their court battle on May 4. The settlement between Lively and Baldoni was a last-minute deal after negotiations lasting a few weeks.

Blake Lively appeared at the Met Gala on May 4, hours after the settlement news broke. The magistrate and judge encouraged Lively and Baldoni to reach a settlement to avoid a long, drawn-out trial. com reported that the co-stars had been negotiating for a few weeks and were encouraged to make a settlement.

A source told the outlet they finally came to an agreement that day.
