In the first, she wrote: "A warm aloha to my older sister, Kelly Lee Curtis. She passed away this morning. In her home. In nature. " The statement continued: "She was my first friend and lifelong confidant.
She was jaw droppingly beautiful, and a talented actress. She played a mean game of hearts, collected turtles, loved her family, nature, music, thrifting, travel, Facebook, and Pokémon Go. " A second post described their relationship.
"My sister and I were close as children but also had that sibling competition for divorced parents' attention and love and we were wildly different and lived apart for many years, but she came back to be with me at my wedding and never really left again," Jamie Lee Curtis wrote.
Kelly Curtis was born June 17, 1956, in Santa Monica. She appeared in the 1958 film The Vikings with her parents and later studied at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute.
She acted in Trading Places (1983), Magic Sticks (1987), The Devil's Daughter (1991), and Mixed Blessings (1998). On television she appeared in The Sentinel, The Equalizer, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and Judging Amy. Her most recent work was as a documentary filmmaker on Marby Jets Are Go (2018) and Curling In Stanley (2019).
She also worked as an assistant on several films starring her sister. Kelly Curtis is survived by her husband, playwright Scott Morfee.
