ADNOC awards stakes in Bab Gas Cap project to BP and TotalEnergies

ADNOC signed concession agreements with BP and TotalEnergies on June 25, 2026, for the Bab Gas Cap project in Abu Dhabi. BP and TotalEnergies each received a 10 percent interest in the concession. The project covers three reservoirs in the Bab Field, one of Abu Dhabi's largest onshore oil fields, and involves co-production of gas and condensate.
ADNOC Onshore will operate the concession, holding 60 percent, while CNPC holds 8 percent, JODCO/INPEX 5 percent, ZhenHua 4 percent, and GS Energy 3 percent. Output is expected to reach up to 1.5 billion cubic feet per day of gas. OilPrice.com reported the signing.
Patrick Pouyanné, chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies, stated that the project aligns with the company's upstream strategy by adding low-cost, low-emissions resources with significant potential for production growth. The concession supports the UAE's goal of gas self-sufficiency and ADNOC's plans to expand LNG exports.
Earlier in 2026, ADNOC announced the final investment decision for the SARB Deep Gas Development offshore Abu Dhabi as part of the Ghasha Concession.
