ADNOC Sends Second LNG Carrier Through Strait of Hormuz
Bloomberg reported that ADNOC sent another LNG carrier through the Strait of Hormuz. The vessel is traveling to India after loading at Das Island.
yna.co.krBloomberg reported today that ADNOC sent a second LNG carrier through the Strait of Hormuz. Shipping data shows the vessel is heading to India. The publication said ADNOC has used its own tankers to move oil and gas through the strait in dark mode. In this practice, vessels turn off geolocation signals.
Bloomberg stated the Umm Al Ashtan stopped transmitting a signal around May 2 while empty near the strait entrance. Satellite data later showed the carrier loaded at the Das Island LNG terminal with its signal off. This passage follows earlier reports of two other LNG carriers that also transited the strait and are now en route to their destinations.
Iran has proposed separate agreements with Gulf governments and importing countries to allow safe passage in exchange for payments.
