Aerial Photo Shows Reflecting Pool, South Lawn, and Mall Covering After Recent Events
An aerial photo taken June 16 shows ongoing work at three Washington landmarks. The U.S. Park Police opened an investigation into a message written on a National Mall covering.

" The Department of the Interior completed work on the Reflecting Pool earlier this month. The renovations left the pool algae-green, a color President Donald Trump said was less desirable than the "American Flag Blue" he chose ahead of the country's 250th anniversary. On June 17, workers were seen pouring hydrogen peroxide into the Reflecting Pool to reduce the algae.
As of Wednesday, parts of the pool remained green. The White House announced on June 16 that ScottsMiracle-Gro and the National Park Service will work to restore the grass on the South Lawn following the UFC Freedom 250 fight held June 14. ScottsMiracle-Gro committed $1 million toward the project.
U.S. Park Police opened an investigation into the "8647" message written on the National Mall covering. USA TODAY contacted the National Park Service for additional information about repairs to the National Mall following the discoloration and the message.
