Aerodrome to Replace Weekly Voting With Predictive Allocation for Liquidity Incentives in July 2026
The largest DEX on Coinbase's Base network will replace weekly voting with a real-time system that rewards participants for anticipating future liquidity demand.
CoinDeskAerodrome will launch Predictive Allocation in July 2026, replacing the weekly voting system that currently directs liquidity incentives on the exchange. The new mechanism will reward participants for directing incentives toward trading pools they expect will generate future demand rather than those that have already produced fees.
Aerodrome is the largest decentralized exchange on Coinbase's Base network.
It debuted on Base in 2023. Alex Cutler, founder of Dromos Labs, the developers of Aerodrome, said the change addresses a core limitation of the current model. " Cutler told CoinDesk. "Predictive allocation is answering the question of where does capital need to go," he said.
Under the existing system, token holders vote weekly on which pools receive incentives. The model helped bootstrap liquidity for new assets and maintain it when incentives end. Cutler said the new approach moves liquidity in an anticipatory way.
"The liquidity is now moving in an anticipatory way ahead of where the market is," he said. The system draws from prediction markets but differs in one key respect: participants are not merely speculating on outcomes. Directing incentives toward a pool simultaneously creates the liquidity that market needs.
"It takes that asymmetric upside and truth discovery and brings it into market creation and spot markets for the first time," Cutler said. The design is intended to attract trading firms and AI agents that can analyze market conditions continuously. "This is optimized for an increasingly agentic commerce layer," Cutler said.
Dromos Labs frames Predictive Allocation as part of a broader concept called a "production market," a mechanism for allocating capital under uncertainty. "The primitive is something that we think could be applied to any scenario where there is a decision that needs to be made under uncertainty," Cutler said.
