mises.orgA video posted on June 3, 2026, that purports to show two senators admitting receipt of a cash payoff for flood control projects is AI-generated, according to analysis by DeCopy software. The footage, which has accumulated more than 464,000 views, features text reading "Masterminds of corruption" and shows one senator asking the other about a suitcase payoff.
The second senator replies that they should consult another official, while additional fabricated dialogue shows a president directing an ombudsman to pursue cases against other senators.
Video analysis and distribution DeCopy's AI image analysis assigned a 98 percent probability that the video was artificially generated. The clip was posted by a Facebook page labeled as a "fan page only" that has more than 876,000 followers and regularly shares content supporting a former president.
Denials from the senators One of the senators stated in a television interview that the video is a "demolition job" by a rival political group. He said he spoke directly with his brother, who called the allegations untrue and expressed strong anger over the claims.
The video appeared on the same day one senator was appointed chairperson of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee. The appointment followed the return of another senator that allowed a quorum after an extended absence by members of a rival bloc.
Background on the allegations No official Senate committee reports or Ombudsman cases have linked either senator to the flood control matter. The only public allegations against one senator come from statements by 18 former security aides of a former House appropriations official.
The senator denied those claims, noting that his name does not appear in the General Appropriations Acts from 2022 through 2026 and that he therefore could not have received kickbacks from the projects in question. As of the date of the video's posting, the only senators publicly connected to flood control controversies are four other members of the chamber.
