AIPAC spends $1.2 million in Missouri Democratic primary rematch

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee has spent $1.2 million in the Aug. 4 Democratic primary in a St. Louis-area congressional district. The committee's spending supports the incumbent representative against the former representative who lost the seat in 2024.

An affiliated group, the United Democracy Project, has spent roughly $23,000 on advertisements opposing the former representative and reserved more than $860,000 for additional television spots.

Spending and endorsements The incumbent representative is the top Democratic recipient of contributions from the committee. The former representative has received endorsements from Sen. Bernard Sanders of Vermont, Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and the Democratic Socialists of America.

The incumbent representative has the support of House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries of New York and other House Democratic leaders.

Campaign statements The former representative said the advertisements show the incumbent representative cannot be trusted. She stated that the committee is attempting to portray a representative who voted to thank Immigration and Customs Enforcement and is funded by its contractors as a progressive.

A campaign manager for the incumbent representative said the race is a choice between a representative fighting the current administration and a former representative who fights Democrats. The former representative has pledged, if elected, to work to end arms shipments to Israel.
