Matthew James Sullivan, a 39-year-old former Air Force intelligence officer and Bronze Star recipient, died at his home in Falls Church, Virginia, on May 12, 2024, from a lethal mix of alcohol, alprazolam, cyclobenzaprine, and imipramine, according to the Northern District Office of the Chief Medical Examiner as reported by the New York Post.

Alprazolam is the generic form of Xanax, an anti-anxiety medication, while cyclobenzaprine serves as a prescription muscle relaxant that affects the central nervous system, and imipramine is used to treat anxiety and bedwetting in children, the New York Post reported.

Sullivan's death occurred weeks after he agreed to testify before Congress about secret government UFO programs, the New York Post reported.

He had earned a Bronze Star for valor during Operation Enduring Freedom and previously worked for the Air Force Intelligence Agency, the National Air and Space Intelligence Center, and the National Security Agency. Rep. Eric Burlison, a Republican from Missouri, referred Sullivan's death to the FBI for investigation due to implications for national security, according to a letter obtained by the New York Post.

The letter, addressed to FBI Director Kash Patel on April 16, stated that Sullivan's death was a local Virginia medical examiner case, and the manner and circumstances raised substantial questions since he was preparing to provide testimony to Congress.

Burlison further stated in the letter that the sudden and suspicious circumstances surrounding Sullivan's death raised significant concerns about potential foul play and the safety of other individuals involved in the matter, the New York Post reported.

The FBI indicated in a statement that Sullivan’s death could be under investigation along with the dozen other missing or dead US scientists. “While we do not comment on specific incidents, the FBI is spearheading the effort to look for connections into the missing and deceased scientists.

We are working with the Department of Energy, and with our state and local law enforcement partners to find answers,” the FBI said.

David Grusch, an Air Force and intel community veteran who testified to congress in 2023 that the US was in possession of UFOs and non-human “biologics,” wrote a letter in May 2022 to the Intelligence Community Office of Inspector General claiming he faced harsh reprisals after reporting evidence of UFOs, the New York Post reported.

Grusch also claimed he received credible death threats before his revelations to the American public.

A version of Grusch’s letter was sent to the IC OIG and included information regarding Sullivan’s death, sources said.
