Airbus Directs Teams to Cut Non-Essential Costs by 10 Percent
Airbus has instructed employees to reduce non-essential expenses by 10 percent compared to the 2025 baseline. The directive follows economic uncertainty tied to the Middle East war.
interestingengineering.comEuropean aviation manufacturer Airbus has directed its teams to reduce non-essential expenses by 10 percent compared to the 2025 baseline. The company issued an internal memo asking staff to pause activities and costs not strictly essential to industrial operations. The memo cited the need to navigate an unstable situation caused by the Middle East war.
The memo instructed teams not to engage in new expenses or subcontracting activities that are not strictly essential. It specifically listed team events, corporate events, and participation in conferences as areas for reduction. Teams were also directed to cut travel costs and avoid entering into new agreements or activities.
Airbus declined to comment when contacted by AFP.
At the end of April, the company was still planning to deliver a record 870 commercial planes in 2026. The economic uncertainty caused by the Middle East war is weighing on the entire aviation sector and global supply chains.
