Airman 1st Class Cedric Eneluna, 23, was the only person killed. Eneluna joined the military on March 5, 2024, and was serving his first duty assignment at the base.
He belonged to the pavements and equipment specialists group known as the Dirt Boyz, which supports launch, test and range operations. US Space Force Col. James T. Horne III, commander of Space Launch Delta 30 and Vandenberg Space Force Base, stated that the base community was grieving alongside Eneluna’s loved ones and teammates.
Horne added that Eneluna had made a lasting impression through his character, dedication and genuine care for others. Eneluna was originally from the Philippines and later lived in St. Louis, Missouri.
The cause of death remains under investigation, and the specific type of equipment involved has not been disclosed. No one else was injured in the incident.
