Alabama Senate Primary Advances to June Runoff Between Moore and Hudson

Tommy Tuberville won the Republican nomination for Alabama governor on Tuesday and will face former Sen. Doug Jones in November. Tuberville's move to run for governor created the vacancy in the Senate seat he has held since 2021. Jones, the last Democrat to win a statewide election in Alabama, will face either business owner Dakarai Larriett or lawyer Everett Wess in the general election after they advanced from the Democratic primary.
Voters cast ballots in all seven of Alabama's congressional districts on Tuesday, but the results in four districts will be replaced by an Aug. S. Supreme Court decision weakened the Voting Rights Act. Federal judges have scheduled a Friday hearing on a request by the NAACP Legal Defense Fund to block the state from implementing the new maps.
" Hudson wrote on social media after advancing. " President Donald Trump described Moore as "a true America First Patriot who's been with me from the very beginning" during a recent tele-rally. Moore told supporters after the primary that the state deserves a "Trump conservative" in the Senate.
"We're going to win this thing, and God's going to bless this great nation," Moore said. If elected, Hudson has promised to be "a warrior for President Trump's 'America First' agenda.
