Alabama Tops Nebraska 5-1 at Women's College World Series

Alabama defeated Nebraska 5-1 on May 30, 2026, at the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City. Marlie Giles homered and drove in four runs for the Crimson Tide. Jocelyn Briski threw a complete-game one-hitter, striking out six batters and issuing no walks.

Briski improved to 25-3 on the season. Alabama improved to 2-0 at the Women's College World Series and holds a season record of 56-7. Alabama recorded its fourth one-hitter in seven NCAA Tournament games this season.

Giles homered off Nebraska pitcher Jordy Frahm with two outs in the first inning, giving Alabama a 3-0 lead. Giles added a sacrifice fly in the third inning off Alexis Jensen to make the score 4-0. Briski retired the first 11 batters before Hannah Camenzind homered to center field with two outs in the fourth inning.

Alabama leadoff hitter Jena Young delivered an RBI single in the fourth inning. Young's on-base streak reached seven consecutive appearances covering all of her at-bats in the World Series. She finished 2 for 2 with one walk.

Frahm, the 2025 and 2026 NFCA National Player of the Year, gave up three hits and three runs in two full innings. Her record is 27-5. Nebraska's season record stands at 52-7. The Crimson Tide has made 16 WCWS appearances this century and won its only national championship in 2012.

Nebraska, making its 10th WCWS appearance, is seeking its first national championship. Alabama snapped Nebraska's 27-game win streak. Fourth-seeded Nebraska faces Texas in an elimination game on Sunday.

The winner advances to play Tennessee on Monday. Alabama will play either UCLA or Texas Tech on Monday with the chance to advance to the championship series. UCLA and Texas Tech play an elimination game on Sunday.

Last year's championship series participants face elimination Sunday as the WCWS continues in Oklahoma City.
