Albert Mazibuko, a singer in the South African choral group Ladysmith Black Mambazo, died on Sunday at the age of 77. The group announced his death on their Facebook page, stating that he passed away after a short illness. Mazibuko joined Ladysmith Black Mambazo in 1969.
The group, founded by his cousin Joseph Shabalala in 1960, blends indigenous Zulu songs and dances with isicathamiya, an a cappella tradition often accompanied by a soft shuffling dance style.
