According to an enforcement report from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the recall was initiated on April 14. On April 28 the FDA elevated the recall to Class II status, which means consumption of the affected items can pose a serious health risk.

The recalled dessert was packaged in 3.6-ounce glass jars and distributed to Aldi stores in seven states: Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, New York and Virginia. The products were manufactured by Lactalis Canada and carry a use-by date of May 9, 2026, product number 710298-4099100342826 and barcode number 4099100342826.

No illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall. The company is urging consumers who purchased the item to throw it away immediately or return it to the store where it was bought for a full refund.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service issued a public health alert last week for certain meat and poultry products that contained FDA-regulated ingredients formulated with dry milk powder. That dairy-based product could have been contaminated with salmonella.

As a result, two breakfast pizzas sold at Aldi stores nationwide were recalled. The products are described as biscuit-crust sausage and cheese breakfast pizza and biscuit-crust cooked pork belly crumbles with cooked bacon topping, pepper and onion breakfast pizza.

The same alert led to the recall of three frozen chicken bacon ranch pizzas sold at Walmart locations. Separately, a company recalled a ravioli product this week after receiving complaints from two consumers that some packages labeled as rustic beef sauce and creamy burrata cheese ravioli actually contained shrimp filling in lobster sauce.

The labeling error could trigger a serious allergic reaction in people with a crustacean shellfish allergy.
