Alessandro Bastoni Scores in Inter Milan Victory Over Roma After Italy World Cup Setback

Inter Milan secured a 2-1 victory over Roma at San Siro on Sunday, with defender Alessandro Bastoni contributing an assist in the second half. The match came after Inter's recent dip in form, where they won none of their four games in April. Bastoni, who has been targeted by jeers in away matches for Inter, played a role in the team's recovery.

Inter led Serie A by 10 points at the start of March but drew against Como in the Coppa Italia semi-final first leg, lost to Milan, and drew with Atalanta and Fiorentina in league play during April. A loss to Roma could have reduced their lead to three or four points over Milan or Napoli, who played each other on Monday.

Roma, sixth in the table, sought a Champions League spot and had conceded fewer goals than all but Como in Serie A this season.

In the match, Marcus Thuram scored the opener in the first minute by gliding past Evan Ndicka and assisting Lautaro Martínez, who finished into the net.
