AmaWaterways to Launch 196-Guest AmaRudi on Danube in 2027
AmaWaterways announced details of its new double-width vessel on 24 June 2026. The ship will launch on the Danube River in spring 2027 and accommodate 196 guests.

AmaWaterways unveiled the first details of its new river cruise ship AmaRudi on 24 June 2026. The vessel is scheduled to launch on the Danube River in spring 2027 and will become Europe's largest river cruise ship. Euronews reported that AmaRudi will accommodate 196 guests across 98 staterooms and suites.
It is the company's second double-width vessel after AmaMagna and is designed specifically for the Danube. Balcony suites will range from 355 to 710 square feet. The ship will feature four dining venues including Journey's Restaurant, The Chef's Table, al fresco options and Rudi's Wine Bar.
More than 30 complimentary wines will be served with lunch and dinner, along with a Deck Club barbecue on the Sun Deck. Wellness facilities will include a Zen Wellness Studio with massage treatment rooms, a fitness centre, beauty services and guided classes.
A full-sized pickleball court will be located on the Sun Deck, and a new entertainment venue will offer a cinema, karaoke, billiards and a jukebox.
The ship is named after AmaWaterways co-founder Rudi Schreiner. Schreiner stated that AmaMagna changed what travellers believed was possible on a river cruise ship and that the timing is now right for a second double-width vessel. AmaRudi's inaugural cruise will depart on 11 April 2027 from Vilshofen, Germany.
TUI Group data showed that approximately 1.5 million passengers travelled on European river cruises in 2025, an 8% increase from the previous year.
