Amazon Driver Interrupts Alleged Hammer Attack in Minnesota Home
An Amazon delivery driver stopped an alleged attack on a woman in her Minnesota home on May 11. Police arrested the woman's husband and charged him with attempted murder.
nypost.comThe driver heard screams outside the couple's front door in Wyoming, Minnesota and saw a woman covered in blood and a man holding a hammer inside, according to KTSP. The driver entered the home and told the man to drop the hammer. The man handed over the weapon, and the driver called 911. Police arrived and found the woman lying in a pool of blood on the living room floor.
Officers noted large bloody indents on the woman that were consistent with being struck by a hammer several times, according to a criminal complaint. The woman told police her husband had struck her in the head with the hammer twice and that she stopped the attack by kicking him.
The husband told police the attack was fueled by financial issues at the business where he works as a general manager. He said he planned to kill his wife to save her from the hardship of living off reduced social security benefits.
Johnson, 72, is charged with first-degree attempted murder and second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon. He is being held at the Chisago County Jail.
