Amazon Driver Takes Cat From California Home, Investigation Underway
Ring camera footage captured an Amazon delivery driver removing a cat named Junie from a Bakersfield doorstep. The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is treating the incident as a theft and is investigating. The family has asked for the cat’s return and said it will not pursue charges if Junie is brought home.
New York PostRing camera footage recorded an Amazon delivery driver picking up a cat named Junie from the front porch of a home in Bakersfield, California. The driver had placed a package at the residence moments earlier before lifting the cat and walking toward an Amazon delivery truck parked at the curb.
Brenda Wilson, who has owned Junie since 2022, told KGET the cat meowed as the driver approached. She said Junie is not aggressive by nature and expressed a wish that the animal had resisted.
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office stated that the incident appears to be a theft of a cat and confirmed that an investigation is ongoing. Wilson posted on Facebook that the driver previously lived near the family and may believe Junie belongs to him and his spouse.
Wilson said she possesses records showing the family has owned Junie longer than the couple resided in the neighborhood and shared photos of the cat with her litter. She wrote that the family wants Junie returned and will not pursue charges if the cat is brought home.
An Amazon spokesperson told The California Post that the driver is employed by a Delivery Service Partner. The spokesperson added that the company is reviewing the matter and cooperating with law enforcement.
