Amazon Adds 365-Day Price History to Tracking Feature
Amazon has updated its built-in price tracking tool to display product price changes over the past year, just weeks before its annual Prime Day event. The expansion coincides with a price-fixing lawsuit filed by California Attorney General Rob Bonta against the company. The feature is now available in the US, UK, and India.
thehindubusinessline.com (News photo)Amazon has expanded its built-in price tracking feature to allow users to view a product's price changes over the past year, The Verge reported. The update enables viewing price history across 30, 90, and 365 days via a 'Price history' button next to the item's price in the Amazon app. Users can also ask Amazon's AI assistant Rufus to access the price history.
The feature, first introduced in 2024 with 30- and 90-day views, now includes 365-day history and is available in the US, UK, and India. Amazon initially rolled out the built-in price tracker in 2024, when it allowed viewing an item’s price across only 30 and 90 days. Separately, California Attorney General Rob Bonta filed a 'price fixing' lawsuit against Amazon.
The lawsuit alleges Amazon pressured vendors to increase prices at competing retailers before Prime Day and to remove products from those sites, accusations Amazon has denied. Bonta also claims Amazon secured the removal of products from other shops.
Amazon’s expanded price tracking tool is available in the US, UK, and India. Third-party tools such as CamelCamelCamel and Keepa can be used to check product price history on Amazon.
