Amazon MGM Studios Begins Search for Next James Bond Actor

Amazon MGM Studios has announced that the search for the next James Bond is under way. Auditions for the new James Bond have been taking place in recent weeks, according to Variety. Nina Gold is conducting the search for the new James Bond lead actor.

The casting process signals the beginning of the end of years of anticipation following Daniel Craig's tenure. Daniel Craig served as James Bond across 15 years and five films. No Time To Die was released five years before the current date of 2026-05-15.

Amazon MGM Studios took control of the Bond franchise 15 months before the current date of 2026-05-15. The studio has already lined up key creative talent for the project. The next James Bond movie will be directed by Denis Villeneuve and written by Steven Knight.

The new film will be the 26th official Bond movie. It will be co-produced by Amy Pascal and David Heyman.

BBC News reported that the current bookmakers' favourites include several prominent actors with established careers. Callum Turner is 36 years old. Callum Turner has appeared in the Fantastic Beasts franchise, was nominated for a Bafta for the TV drama The Capture and starred in Apple TV's Masters of the Air.

Jacob Elordi is 28 years old. Jacob Elordi made his name in TV's Euphoria and the film Saltburn. Jacob Elordi was nominated for an Oscar this year for playing the monster in Frankenstein. Harris Dickinson is 29 years old.

Harris Dickinson is playing John Lennon in the forthcoming major Beatles biopics. Harris Dickinson has appeared in Maleficent, The King's Man, Where the Crawdads Sing and Babygirl and received a Bafta TV Award nomination for A Murder at the End of the World.

Other names in contention include Henry Cavill, who is 43 years old, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who is 35 years old, and Theo James, who is 41 years old.

Nina Gold has worked on the Paddington, Star Wars, Jurassic Park and Mamma Mia! franchises. Courtenay Valenti said at CinemaCon last month that the studio is taking the time to cast James Bond with care and deep respect.

Steven Knight told BBC News at the Bafta TV Awards last weekend that his work on the script was going fantastically.
