thurrott.comAmazon is releasing a free software update for Echo Hub devices that introduces a customizable dashboard layout and Ring AI video search tools. The update replaces the interface the device launched with in 2024 and follows an earlier addition of Alexa Plus AI support.
” Users navigate to existing groups through the bottom bar, long-press to edit, add or remove devices, drag to reorder them, and control all devices in a group with one tap.
Users can create new groups by selecting the “Add group” button on the bottom bar, choosing a name, and assigning devices. The groups become accessible through voice commands and the companion app. Sections and device tiles can be added, removed, or rearranged with drag-and-drop actions, and tiles can be resized to enlarge frequently used controls.
Tapping the three dots on any device tile opens detailed settings that include precise dimming from 0 to 100 percent and color adjustment for compatible lights. The Echo Hub is also gaining Ring AI’s Video Search feature, which allows natural-language searches through smart-home camera footage, along with Alexa Plus summaries of detected camera events.
Users can reach the most frequently used Routines directly from the homescreen through an automations section or tab and trigger them with a single tap.
The Verge reported the update on June 11, 2026.
