Israel Reports No Immediate Comment on Amnesty Displacement Report; UN Tracks 7,280 Demolitions in West Bank

Amnesty International published a 149-page report on June 11, 2026, stating that Israeli policies have resulted in the displacement of Palestinians from parts of the West Bank. The organization described the actions as amounting to ethnic cleansing and said the measures form part of efforts to annex territory.

The report examined 27 hamlets and villages where displacement occurred between 2023 and 2025. Amnesty researchers conducted interviews with dozens of Palestinians and lawyers, reviewed more than 420 videos, and analyzed government statements along with other documentation. Agnès Callamard, Amnesty’s secretary general, said the abuses “are not the result of a few bad apples.”

UN data cited in the report recorded over 100 West Bank villages that were fully or partially emptied between January 2023 and April 2026, with more than 7,280 instances of individual Palestinian displacement linked to home and structure demolitions by Israeli forces during the same period.

Amnesty identified dozens of bills introduced in Israel’s Knesset that would extend Israeli civil law and jurisdiction over settlement areas and courts handling Palestinian cases. Israel’s parliament approved a measure establishing the death penalty as the default punishment for West Bank Palestinians convicted of killing Israelis.

More than 700,000 Israelis live in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. Israel captured the West Bank and East Jerusalem in the 1967 war. Amnesty stated that settler violence, new settlement construction, and Israeli administration of unregistered land have driven large-scale displacement of Palestinian Bedouin communities.

Rights groups documented an intensification of such displacement after the October 7, 2023, attack by Hamas.

Peace Now reported that 212 of at least 363 existing West Bank outposts were established since 2023. The report noted that 5 percent of West Bank territory is land Palestinians can no longer access or cross safely. U.S. President Donald Trump stated he would not allow Israel to annex the West Bank.
