The company is unit profitable per customer but distributes those profits to subscribers. Yang said the average monthly savings of $50, invested and compounded over 40 years, could amount to $24,000. He listed housing, education, food, fuel, transportation, media, and wireless as the major expenses people face.
Yang was inspired by Mark Cuban’s Cost Plus Drugs model. He spoke to TechCrunch on a recent episode of Equity and described Noble Mobile as part of a broader category of startups that return margin to customers rather than extract it. Yang advocated for Universal Basic Income during his 2020 presidential campaign and continues to support the policy.
He argues that value generated by AI companies should be redistributed to average Americans. Yang said at least one investor told him they would back Noble Mobile if it were an AI company. He noted that capital remains concentrated in AI while consumer-facing businesses with thin margins face resistance.
Yang stated that the concentration of value in a few hands is bad for everyone and that some Silicon Valley figures are open to different approaches because they do not want to hire private security. He encouraged founders to tackle problems they care about and avoid groupthink.
