Anthropic CEO Urges G7 Leaders to Maintain Unified AI Approach

Anthropic chief executive Dario Amodei urged G7 leaders to keep international AI policy coordinated rather than pursue separate national approaches.

Amodei made the remarks during meetings with G7 officials focused on artificial intelligence governance. He argued that divergent national rules could complicate efforts to address AI safety and security issues. OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman supported the same position, saying rival companies share an interest in consistent international standards.

Altman both emphasized that companies already exchange information on AI risk assessment methods. The two executives said fragmented regulation might slow safety research without reducing actual risks. Both leaders pointed to existing industry practices where firms share technical details on model evaluation despite commercial competition.
