Claude Cowork, previously limited to desktop, now runs on web and mobile starting Tuesday. The update lets users manage tasks across devices while background agents continue without an active connection.
app.buzzsumo.comAnthropic is extending Claude Cowork to web and mobile platforms for Max subscribers beginning Tuesday. The desktop version launched in January; the new access lets users start tasks at a desk, receive phone updates, and retrieve completed work even when a laptop is closed. The company also introduced Claude Tag, an always-on agent that operates inside Slack as a background teammate.
It can run tasks without requiring a device to stay online. One example task involves preparing a Monday client briefing by reviewing email threads, transcripts, and news, then drafting a follow-up message for later review. Chat and Cowork features will be unified on web and desktop, keeping projects and artifacts in one place.
The desktop app continues to serve as the main environment for deep work that requires local files and browser access. Anthropic released usage data drawn from 1.2 million anonymized sessions across more than 600,000 organizations during the final two weeks of May.
Business process operating tasks accounted for 33.4 percent of activity, content creation and copywriting for 16.4 percent, and software development for 8.7 percent.
“While coding is still — understandably — one of the uses of AI that gets the most attention, the use of AI for everyday business work is on the rise, and the kinds of tasks people are finding it most helpful for are coming into focus,” the company stated.
