Anthropic Gains Full Access to SpaceX's 220,000-GPU Colossus 1 Supercluster in Memphis
Anthropic will gain 300 megawatts of computing capacity from more than 220,000 Nvidia processors within a month under a new agreement with SpaceX. The deal, announced alongside new Claude AI capabilities including a 'dreaming' feature, marks a reversal for Elon Musk, who had previously accused the company of bias.

The agreement was announced Wednesday as Anthropic held a developer day in San Francisco.
At the event the company unveiled a new Claude AI feature called 'dreaming' that is available as a research preview with its software for managing agents.
The feature is designed to help AI systems learn by reviewing work between sessions, spotting patterns and updating files that store user preferences and other context. Buoyed by the additional capacity and other recent agreements, Anthropic is doubling Claude Code's rate limits for its paid plans, removing peak-hour usage caps for Pro and Max accounts, and sharply increasing the volume of requests developers can make to its Claude Opus models.
Boris Cherny, Anthropic's head of Claude Code, told the San Francisco audience that the default workflow has changed.
'" He closed the keynote by stating, "The capability is already here. " Elon Musk spent time with Anthropic leaders last week before agreeing to provide the computing capacity. In a post on X he said their work to ensure Claude AI is "good for humanity" had impressed him.
"No one set off my evil detector," Musk wrote. He added that SpaceX has moved its AI training efforts to Colossus 2 and that he would provide computing capacity to other AI companies that make similar efforts to favour humanity. " Anthropic said it is interested in working with SpaceX to develop multiple gigawatts of space-based orbital data centres.
Ryan Mallory, CEO of data centre operator Flexential, said the discussions themselves were notable. " Separately, SpaceX is proposing to spend $55 billion to begin construction of Terafab, a next-generation vertically integrated semiconductor manufacturing and advanced computing fabrication facility in Grimes County, Texas.
The estimated total capital investment for the project could rise to $119 billion if additional phases are completed.

“The default isn't, 'I'm going to prompt Claude Code.' The default is now, 'I will have Claude prompt Claude Code.'”
