StatAnthropic announced June 30 that it will begin developing its own pre-clinical drug programs focused on neglected diseases. The company made the announcement during an event in San Francisco where it also launched its new application Claude Science. Stat reported that the programs target conditions the traditional pharmaceutical industry often overlooks.
Eric Kauderer-Abrams, Anthropic’s head of life sciences, said during a press briefing that the diseases carry real burden even if they fall outside typical commercial priorities. The event occurred the day before the current reporting date. Anthropic has not stated whether it plans to advance any candidates to commercialization.
