SemaforAnthropic raised $65 billion in a new funding round at a $965 billion valuation, according to Semafor. The round follows several months of revenue growth that exceeded the company's internal projections.
Capital partner Matt Jacobson, who has led multiple Anthropic funding rounds, said the company faced a near-term shortage of computing resources earlier this year. 25 billion per month addressed the shortfall on a temporary basis. Jacobson said the capital markets continue to supply funding for large-scale AI infrastructure projects.
He added that future constraints may appear in the supply of chips, memory, energy, cooling systems, and turbines. "Capitalism will find a way," Jacobson said after the funding announcement. He noted that the same market forces that supplied the recent capital will determine which bottlenecks persist as companies prepare for public listings.
