Apple announced updates to its accessibility features that incorporate on-device AI processing for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Vision Pro. The company is adding AI-generated subtitling for any video. On-device speech recognition will generate captions for uncaptioned videos on the listed platforms.

Explorer will receive AI-generated descriptions with additional details. Apple stated that these descriptions should not be relied upon in risky or potentially dangerous situations. Users will be able to ask questions about what the camera sees by pressing the Action button.

Control will gain natural language navigation. The Accessibility Reader will be able to summarize more complex material.

The Vision Pro will link its eye-tracking system to power wheelchair drive systems, including Tolt and LUCI in the United States. It will support connections via Bluetooth or hardwired with the Developer Strap. Vehicle Motion Cues will be added to reduce motion sickness for users wearing the headset in a moving vehicle.

A non-AI update makes the MagSafe-compatible Hikawa Grip & Stand available worldwide through the Apple Store starting today in three colors. Additional changes include larger text support on tvOS and a new API for bringing sign language interpreters into FaceTime calls.
