Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference keynote on June 8, 2026, presented updates to macOS 27, iOS 27, and iPadOS 27 but omitted any dedicated segment for tvOS 27. A single graphic displayed all current Apple operating systems next to the number “27,” marking the only on-stage reference to tvOS during the event.

The keynote structure centered on features rather than separate sections for each operating system.

Apple announced upcoming accessibility features that will bring larger text support to tvOS. Amazon introduced a comparable larger-text option for the Fire TV Stick HD in April 2026. The most recent Apple TV 4K hardware, released in 2022, runs on an A15 Bionic chip introduced nearly five years before the June 2026 conference.

Mark Gurman reported that a new Apple TV is ready to go. iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 developer betas became available on June 8, 2026, along with a waitlist for Siri AI features. Public betas of the new operating systems are scheduled for July 2026.

As of June 8, 2026, the Apple TV 4K software-updates page showed no new update available. John Higgins, a senior reviewer at The Verge with more than 20 years of experience covering TVs and audio, noted that the device’s current hardware limits integration with new Siri AI capabilities. Apple’s website coverage of the conference also excluded tvOS.

Higgins wrote that a more powerful Apple TV would be required to run the features highlighted at the event and to match the smart-home integration offered by Amazon Alexa and Google Home. An earlier version of the article incorrectly stated that public betas were becoming available; the correction was issued on June 9, 2026.
