Apple opened its annual developer conference on Monday with software updates for iOS, macOS, watchOS and other platforms. The updates will ship alongside new hardware later this year.
The company announced that John Ternus will become chief executive in September. Tim Cook will move to the role of executive chairman. Ternus has worked at Apple for 25 years and currently serves as senior vice president of hardware engineering.
Apple said it will expand its use of Google's Gemini models and provide further details on Siri improvements. The company also discussed its Apple Intelligence platform. Investors have pushed the stock near record levels after the January announcement of the Gemini partnership and continued iPhone sales growth.
The keynote and most announcements occurred on the first day.
