forbes.comApple released new firmware for its AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods Pro 3 earbuds on June 20, 2026. The update brings the firmware version to 8B41 for both models and includes bug fixes and other improvements. The previous AirPods Pro 3 firmware release occurred two months earlier and applied only to the third-generation model. This update also covers AirPods Pro 2 models with MagSafe charging cases.
Users must connect the earbuds to an Apple device running the latest software with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled. The charging case needs to be connected to power, and the earbuds placed inside with the lid closed while within Bluetooth range of the device.
Apple recommends waiting at least 30 minutes for the update to complete. Users can verify installation by checking the firmware version in device settings.
Apple also released firmware version 1B211 for Beats Studio Buds. The update addresses a vulnerability that could allow an attacker within Bluetooth range to listen through the microphone. The installation process for Beats Studio Buds follows the same steps as the AirPods update. The company stated the issue stems from a vulnerability in open source code affecting multiple projects.
