The company said it is updating the foundations of how Liquid Glass is built to ensure exceptional readability. Apple will diffuse complex content behind Liquid Glass to create more depth and separation between content panels.
The company also said it will not force users into the new Liquid Glass look. Apple is adding a new slider and settings to adjust Liquid Glass from ultra clear to fully tinted. The company stated that since everyone’s preference varies, users can set it anywhere from ultra clear to fully tinted.
On both iOS and macOS, Apple will redesign its app icons to look more refined and cohesive. Liquid Glass customizations will work within third-party apps at launch. Apple kicked off WWDC 2026 with an assurance that Liquid Glass will get better.
The company stated: “Like with all major design updates, there is a natural process where we take a bold leap forward, and then we continue to iterate. ” When Apple announced its major design overhaul called Liquid Glass at WWDC 2025, it received a polarizing reaction from users.
