Apple Unveils Upgraded Siri and iOS 27 at WWDC 2026

Apple introduced an updated Siri assistant at its annual developer conference on June 9, 2026, at Apple Park. The new version runs on Google Gemini models and adds conversational capabilities, visual intelligence support, and a standalone app. The company said the assistant will work across existing apps while maintaining its privacy standards.

A senior vice president stated that data is used only to execute requests and that outside experts can verify the approach at any time.

Apple also announced new Apple Intelligence features for Safari, Messages, and the Phone app. These include tab management, AI reply suggestions, and the ability to pull context from other apps during calls. The company said it collaborated with Google to develop the next generation of its foundation models. Performance updates include faster photo loading and quicker AirDrop transfers.

Users will be able to adjust elements of the Liquid Glass design introduced last year. The company also presented new parental control tools that let parents set call, app, and website limits for children under 13.

A systemwide dictation feature will correct spelling, punctuation, and capitalization. Shortcuts gained the ability to create automations from natural language prompts.

The event marked the final WWDC keynote for the current chief executive, who will step down on September 1. In closing remarks, the executive reflected on product development and future capabilities. Search improvements and expanded iOS 27 eligibility for older devices were also highlighted during the presentation.
