Apple Watch Series 11, SE 3 and Ultra 3 Compared

Apple currently sells three distinct models of its smartwatch, making the choice of which Apple Watch to buy more involved than in previous years. The standard Apple Watch Series 11, the budget-oriented Apple Watch SE 3 and the premium Apple Watch Ultra 3 each target different user needs ranging from everyday notifications to extreme outdoor activities.

The Apple Watch Series 11 retains the physical design of the Series 10 with a bright always-on OLED display available in 42mm or 46mm sizes. Both sizes are larger than those on the Series 9. The watch adds a water temperature sensor and depth gauge capable of tracking up to 6 meters of submersion.

Battery life on the Series 11 reaches up to 24 hours compared with 18 hours on the previous model. In testing, the device lasted a full day of fitness tracking, texting and calling, remained on overnight and retained 15 percent battery the following morning.

The Series 11 also adds 5G connectivity to its cellular model for improved phone-free operation when streaming music or making calls. Software updates in watchOS 26 introduce hypertension notifications that alert users to certain heart rate irregularities and a sleep score feature that analyzes duration, bedtime consistency, respiratory rate and potential signs of sleep apnea.

These features are available on the Series 11 as well as on the Series 9, Ultra 2 and later models for hypertension notifications, and on the Series 6 and later for sleep scoring.

The Apple Watch SE 3 adopts the always-on display previously reserved for higher-end models. This allows the time and key widgets to remain visible without raising the wrist. The feature also contributes to more efficient battery use during daily wear.

It supports the Double Tap and Wrist Flick gestures for menu navigation and clearing alerts without touching the screen. Battery life remains at 18 hours, which in testing required midday charging for some users. The SE 3 lacks certain features found on the Series 11 and Ultra 3, including blood oxygen tracking, hypertension notifications and electrocardiogram capability.

Its starting price is approximately $150 lower than the Series 11, with sales prices observed as low as $200.

The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is designed for outdoor adventurers and users seeking maximum battery life and connectivity. It offers the largest display, longest battery duration at 36 hours and the most robust set of sensors among current Apple Watch models.

The Ultra 3 maintains the core design and capabilities of its predecessor with minimal changes for 2026. It serves as the highest-priced option in the current lineup. All three models run watchOS 26 and deliver the core Apple Watch experience of notifications, fitness tracking and health monitoring.

Users with recent models from the past two years can access most new software features without purchasing new hardware. Those buying their first Apple Watch or replacing an older device face a choice based on budget, desired battery life and specific health or activity requirements.
