Texas leads U.S. beef production while the United States ranks second globally behind Brazil, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Argentina holds the sixth position worldwide.

Texas beef characteristics Texas cattle are mainly grain-fed, producing meat with more marbling that creates juicier texture and sweeter flavor profiles, said Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller. Miller noted that his agency established a marketing office more than a decade ago to connect Texas cattle producers with ranchers in Argentina.

Miller said the office has supplied Argentine ranchers with breeding stock, semen, and embryos to improve herd genetics. He stated that Argentine herds now contain American genetics and congratulated Argentine farmers on quality improvements.
